Anonymous asked: Your last name wouldn't happen to be "Boatright" would it?

Why do you ask anon?

BoatWrong:
I actually know who did this. He’s located in West Port. Skinquest tattoos. His name is Loran Smith and one of the best tattooists I’ve known. You can find some of his other works here: http://www.skinquesttattoo.com/

“Deserving poor” being something that doesn’t actually exist in the minds of rich people, they just want to make the bar higher and higher until they can figure a way out to funnel that money into their own pockets. A just society helps those in need, period. Making people jump through hoops is only a stalling tactic and not actually designed to do anything other than to keep the poor locked in a cheaply bought service class.

Unf. DAT RESPONSE. I’ve always wondered why dental work is a sign of an alleged poor person’s secret riches. Gold fillings are usually cheaper than amalgam ones. Or should poor people let their teeth rot out of their mouths before they accept government assistance?
In addition to being the worst kind of poverty-policing, this is just ignorant of, like, how buying stuff works. A poor person might have already had a decked-out SUV or jewelry before they needed food stamps. Blargh.

In addition to that, I would like to add that it has been proven over and over again that SNAP benefits (food stamps) are a boon to stimulate the economy. The less cash people have to shell out for food, the more they have to spend on other things (like rent, utilities, clothing, etc) which has a cyclical effect of KEEPING THE ECONOMY GOING!
SNAP benefits = Good  for the economy
Assholes who bitch about it = not helping anything!

white people use welfare more than any other race in the USA
how closely are you looking at these people’s earrings because seriously their “diamonds” are probably glass or CZ. Or, you know, fucking gifts.
OH and by the way diamonds lose practically all of their worth when bought so even if you have like, a fucking bucket of old diamond jewelry you generally won’t get shit for it.
getting a gold tooth is actually a cheaper alternative to other dental work like crowns or “natural looking” false teeth, and gold fillings are much cheaper and better lasting than porcelain.
it cost exactly zero dollars to turn up the volume of a car radio
give me an example of one person with a job who doesn’t have a cell phone.
pay-as-you-go cell phone plans are a thing
this is aside from the fact that you can go from wealth to poverty, the things you own don’t necessarily show what kind of money you make, extravagance can be a symptom of poverty,  and the very important point of fuck this guy because seriously poor people don’t need this shit

This bullshit pisses me off so much, like I can’t even.
I’m unemployed.  I’m on foodstamps.  The amount I get per month lasts almost the entire month if I budget it properly and not only that but it gives me $164 to spend on other things.  Like when our power bill skyrocketed, or when my cat had to go to the vet or if heaven forbid I want to get out of town for a few days.
I also own nice things.  I haven’t always been unemployed.  When I was a waitress I made enough money to live pretty comfortably by my own standards.  Because I don’t own a car and had fairly cheap rent, I had a lot of money left over to buy whatever I wanted with.  And I did.  Was I supposed to throw away my Michael Kors purse or my expensive leather jacket or my android phone or rip out my porcelain fillings (all things I bought with money that I earned) the second that I accepted government assistance?  The assumptions people make about those who receive government assistance fucking disgust me.  I’m a person too, just a person who is going through hard times in their life. Fuck off.

This bullshit makes me so angry. I’ve been unemployed since hockey ended for the year. I’ve considered collecting benefits from the government until I can find a job. I’m not ashamed of that, nor do I have any reason to be. The economy is terrible right now. There’s very few jobs. 40 year old business men are working at McDonalds. Take what you can find and if you can’t find anything, welfare is readily available and nothing to be ashamed of.

Also you need to understand the intrinsic racism behind black folks who are on food stamps or welfare and buying flashy things.
Well first off…fuck the government, A lot of blacks are just working the system and rightfully so. $00 years of oppression and disenfranchisement i would want the government to pay me also. but I digress
Us blacks have been conditioned to believe through music, movies so on so forth that flashy items make up our self worth. That if we have gold chains and big cars then we can be perceived as well off. If you look at rap, false wealth is a huge epidemic, but its functionality is to make blacks think that the economical gaps between us and whites aren’t that big. So folks go out and get this stuff because it is believed that if you get all that stuff you can be looked at as if you have wealth.
Also most blacks grow up seeing pimps, drug dealers so on and so forth making a lot of money and having all of this money. THis makes these people high status and when you are an oppressed group you kind need to feel as if you aren’t low status. You want to feel important. Like a big shot, as if you are in control whether or not you actually are at least you can look like it.
Simply put, the need for material good in order to boost our status is a direct product of racism.
BoatWrong: My mom is on disability and is living off of the government, has section eight and only has to pay up to 200 of her rent. What does she do with the 1000 she gets every month? She goes out and spends it on meth. She gets foodstamps, because after spending most of that money on meth, she can’t afford anything else. She goes to the local community building to get help on her bills as well. There are plenty of people using the government money to actually pay their bills and get the other necessities, but there are too many out there just using it for drugs and other things that they don’t need. In my own opinion, people should be drug tested for any form of government help. That’s my input.
